Setting goals is a powerful step toward personal growth. It gives you direction, motivation, and clarity. Yet, many people struggle to define and pursue their goals effectively. Without goals we can feel like a ship adrift on an ocean of possibilities. By clearly setting and defining goals and more importantly the tasks needed to achieve the goals, you form a roadmap to follow, the steps needed to get to the finish line.
When I set out to write my first book I was initially overwhelmed. Where do I start? What do I focus on first? How am I going to get this done in 16 weeks? I was like a deer in the headlights of an oncoming bus. But then I took a step back and decided to break it into small achievable tasks, I wrote each day until I had at least 750 words. This writing was not Pulitzer Prize material, it was shitty first draft material, but it was moving me forward and getting thoughts out of my head and onto my 'paper'. Some days when I was stuck on what to write about I wrote about why I was stuck and not writing. It worked every time to get the words to begin to flow, it removed the dam stopping up my thoughts.
One of the main reasons for me writing my book was to share how I found, and learned to employ, the tools in my own toolbox and how you can do the same. Together we will learn to hone our mastery of the tools we naturally posses and build resilience and self empowerment.
